Hugh Kelly runs the research and development side of ONA Coffee, Canberra’s largest specialty roaster, and supplier. As part of his role, Hugh develops new products and techniques to help the coffee industry expand and grow.

With more than 10 years of coffee experience, Hugh has climbed up the ranks as a coffee aficionado. He has worked as Head Barista at ONA Coffee House in Fyshwick, ran the coffee bar at The Cupping Room, Canberra, developed and ran the training department for ONA Coffee and oversaw the training operations of wholesale customers Australia wide.

Throughout his career, Hugh has also competed in numerous barista competitions. In 2016 he became Australian Barista Champion, while 2017 saw him become Australian Barista Champion for the second time and become a finalist in the World Barista Championships.

Hugh is also a member of the Sanremo World Academy Team (SWAT), a team of leading coffee professionals from around the world. The team focuses on developing machinery aimed at progressing the coffee industry.
