Lesson details

As a guest enters the restaurant the first person they are going to see is you – the host.

How you receive guests with or without a reservation says volumes about how hospitable you are and your attention to detail. Prepare yourself, because being a host comes with a lot of tasks including checking reservations, answering questions, and handling walk-in information.

As a host you’ll have an area in the venue that you have your documents and any relevant information – this is your host stand. Your host stand is your base so make sure it’s organized and has all the information you need for service. You’ll get busy quick, so be ready to handle multiple tasks at once all while ensuring your guests (new and returning) are happy.
