Executive Chef at E.P. & L.P.

Louis Tikaram is the Executive Chef at E.P. & L.P. , a trendy rooftop bar and restaurant in West Hollywood.

As a child, Louis cooked and tasted delicious dishes his Fijian-Chinese grandmother prepared. He also gained an appreciation for fresh produce growing up on a cattle farm in Mullumbimby, Australia and spending time in Fiji and Byron Bay. At 19 he moved to Sydney, where he brought with him his diverse cultural roots and love for food and cooking.

After spending some time working in Sydney at the acclaimed Tetsuya's and Longrain Louis worked hard to achieve his goal of becoming an Executive Chef. Early on he was rejected. However, his persistence paid off, and eventually he earned the position of Executive Chef at Longrain.

After winning Josephine Pignolet Young Chef of the Year Award in 2014, Louis was hand-picked by Australian restaurateurs, Grant Smillie and David Combes to run their West Hollywood venture. Louis Tikram has taken his childhood experiences and understanding of flavors and continues to develop a unique mix of Modern Asian dishes he now prepares with his team at E.P. & L.P.

In this mentor session, Louis shares his experiences of team work in hospitality and how he belives it makes the dream work. "I have made some of my closest lifelong friends working in kitchens around the world and this family mentality is what made me fall in love with hospitality."
