Lesson details

Joanne McKerchar is a Senior Archivist at the Diageo Archive in Scotland. As the archivist and historian for gins and malts, Joanne works with a team that collects and preserves the history and heritage of all Diageo-owned brands.

Diageo is the world’s leading alcoholic beverages company, representing 200 brands which are enjoyed in 180 countries. The world’s top-selling vodka, blended Scotch whisky, liqueur, and stout are all Diageo-owned brands: Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, and Guinness.

The company is driven by a spirit of innovation and a passion for its brands. While the company itself is still quite young, its brands have a rich heritage that the Diageo Archive was established to preserve.

The Diageo Archive holds records dating as far back as the 1700s, while its Liquid Library boasts 5000 historical bottles, from the 1800s to today. The items in the Archive are an irreplaceable source of inspiration for new Diageo products.

In this mentor session, Joanne talks about finding joy and pride in your work and invites you on an exclusive behind the scenes look at the world’s largest spirits archive!
