Enhanced procedures for handling linen

Issued by: Diversey

It's more important than ever that hotels can keep guests reassured that they are taking cleaning and hygiene practices, and guest safety seriously!

Part of this is the cleanliness, hygiene and quality of linen products. Poor preparation will affect the safety and experience for your guests, yourself, and eventually the image and reputation of your workplace.

In the Enhanced procedures for handling linen course, Diversey will teach you how to correctly clean and disinfect linen with two procedures: deep cleaning and enhanced cleaning.

You'll learn about the high risk surfaces found in a laundry area and how you can keep safe. You'll also review the linen workflow under the circumstances of reopening a hotel, or during suspected infection.

For your safety, Diversey recommends you pay attention to proper dosage of these chemicals when cleaning. You can find these details on the Diversey product label on each item bottle. Each chemical also has a Safety Data Sheet. These are available at your workplace, or on the Diversey website. Links are available in each lesson in this course.

By the end of this course you will be able to

  • Understand what PPE to wear to protect yourself during an outbreak
  • What deep cleaning, enhanced cleaning and standard cleaning are and how frequent to complete them
  • Identify the high risk surfaces of the laundry to be cleaned and disinfected
  • Describe the process of cleaning and disinfecting laundry
  • Follow tips for collecting, sorting and transporting linen when pre-sorting is restricted or a suspected infection is in the hotel
  • Describe guidelines and laundry solutions for different linen items
